Olle Eskell

Olle Eksell was a graphic design during the 1950´s who was inspired by the American way of life. His use of simple line drawing with limited detail and colour palette. My curious was with his layout and how he continually grouped his work close together while not making the page overcrowded.

/>

Saul Bass is one of the greatest designers of the mid 20th century. His use of layering creates depth that has a transparent appearance. His designs are fragmented with simple outline shapes and bold striking colours. Tracey Emin could be linked to Saul Bass's layouts.

Tracey Emin

Tracey Emin's honest and refreshing attitude to transforming material is a visually exciting fragmented collage, that reveals the most intimate parts of her life which in turn makes her an amazing artist.

Studioaisslinger

"...design evolution is always a matter of empirical experiment, materials and technology - for this exhibition we worked with a hidden traditional stitching textile technology which we transformed into a 2D-to-3D-furniture pop-up concept.."

I was inspired by studioaisslinger,by the way they created objects that are hollow and non practical. instead of the tradtional practical sense. I created the above cutlery set, using machine stitching on dissolvable fabric. I covered plates, cups, knifes and forks by wrapping them in the dissolvable fabrics, this will then hold the shape creating a hollow template. My empirical experiments, supported my final outcome by helping me to understand the techniques.

I found this container in a shop called 'Urban Outfitters'. This container uses the same methods as Studioaisslinger.

Susan Stockwell

One of my most inspirational textile artist is Susan Stockwell. This is because of the way she uses everyday domestic materials, such as maps, tea bags and paper and she transforms and manipulates these objects and changes peoples proceptions of how materials could be changed into a beauitful and unique garment. The dress above was designed using rice paper and wire. This garment amazed me by the way the dress is simple and plain and leads into a trail of excitement fo gathering. However, the trail ends and starts by claiming up the wall like an infection. Therefore, not only is it a dress but it turns into an installion.

As you can see Above I have taken her influences and designed a dress, entitled 'Candy Dress'.Stockwell has inspirted me by the way she changes people proception on an everyday object. My theme for this dress was the fact that my grandad use to take me to a sweet shop. So I took a photograph of a collection of sweets and printed these images out on white A4 paper then box pleated the images round a dress.
